Ambasada României în Republica Cehă

The Embassy of Romania in Prague marked, on November 29, 2023 the National Day of Romania through a reception that took place at the Kaunicky Palace in Prague.
Joined us were more than 250 guests, representatives of the central and local authorities, of the Czech Parliament and institutions, of the diplomatic body accredited in Prague, of the Romanian community in the Czech Republic, the Czech-Romania Association, of the business, cultural and artistic and academic environment. We were pleased and honored by the presence, as a guest of honor, of the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jan Marian.
The excellent level of bilateral relations, strengthened and deepened during 2023 reflected in the high-level visits of Czech officials to Bucharest – of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Interior and the President of the Czech Senate – and the prospects for the development of Romanian-Czech cooperation, were in the center of the speech of the Romanian Ambassador in Prague, Antoaneta Barta, who stressed the importance of strengthening the bilateral relationship under these new auspices, in a global context marked by socio-economic and security challenges. This year Romania and the Czech Republic have again become aware of the extraordinary potential of bilateral cooperation, inspired by a rich shared history and optimistic perspectives on the future.
In addition, the guest of honor from the Czech Republic MEA, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Marian, emphasized the excellent bilateral relations, with a significant historical past, marked by episodes of solidarity and joint initiatives with regional and international relevance. Deputy Minister Marian also stressed the development potential in the economic cooperation plan, remembering that Romania is the most important economic partner of the Czech Republic in Southeast Europe.
The anthems of Romania, the Czech Republic and the European Union were performed by the Intermezzo Quartet of the Faculty of Music at the University of Transylvania in Brasov. Students from Brasov Larisa Calinciuc (violin), Albert Dănăilă (violin), Carmen Porancea (violin) and Sabin Bănescu (piano) held an appreciated concert at the reception, performing compositions of Romanian and Czech classical music, composed by Ciprian Porumbescu, Eugen Doga, Constantin Dimitrescu, George Enescu, Grigora ții Dinicu and Bedrich Smetana.
