Czech Households Embrace Energy-Saving Measures, With Many Planning Investments
A recent survey conducted by Ipsos for Modrá pyramid has revealed that energy-saving measures continue to be a motivating factor for Czech households. A significant number of Czechs are planning to invest in modifications this year to reduce energy consumption costs in their homes, with three-fifths of respondents having already saved money specifically for these investments.
The survey findings indicate that in every second Czech household, residents are planning to implement modifications aimed at saving on expensive energy consumption. These modifications are often part of already planned house or apartment renovations in a quarter of the homes.
The most common plans revolve around reducing electricity or gas consumption within the household, with 30% of respondents prioritizing this aspect. Approximately one-fifth of households intend to invest in cheaper heating options, while every sixth household plans to finance comprehensive solutions to reduce overall operating costs. Other areas of interest for Czechs include insulation, window replacement, and investments in more energy-efficient water heating, all with equal levels of interest at 15%.
However, experts caution that investments in heating sources alone, without accompanying measures such as window replacement or insulation, may not yield sufficient savings to justify the expenditure. They emphasize the need for a comprehensive approach to energy efficiency.
When it comes to financing these energy-saving investments, three-fifths of Czechs plan to use their own funds. A quarter of respondents intend to utilize subsidies for at least a portion of the investment, while one in six plans to take out a loan.
The majority of people considering energy-saving measures are looking to invest up to half a million Czech korunas. However, high costs and other obstacles often lead to the postponement of such investments. Roughly half of the respondents cited concerns about purchase prices and long delivery times for equipment as barriers to taking immediate action.
To assist individuals interested in investing in energy-saving measures, financial institutions offer specialized loans. Building societies, for example, provide loan repayment terms of up to 25 years for energy efficiency or renovations. These loans typically have lower interest rates than regular consumer loans and do not require collateral or guarantors.
The survey results indicate a strong commitment from Czech households to embrace energy-saving measures and make investments to reduce their energy consumption costs. As awareness and financial incentives continue to grow, it is expected that more households will undertake such modifications in the coming years, contributing to both cost savings and environmental sustainability.
