Extraordinary Beetroot Salad Becomes Exorbitantly Priced Delicacy in Prague

Prague’s wealthy residents have discovered a surprising culinary delight in the form of a seemingly ordinary beetroot salad, which has transformed into a new luxury food item. Wine Food The Italians, located on Strakonická Street in Prague 5, offers this beetroot salad at an astonishing price of 550 crowns per kilogram, significantly higher than the standard price of 25-30 crowns.

The salad consists of beetroot, red onion, garlic, and coriander, resulting in a refreshingly delicious and unique combination. Intrigued by its reputation, we decided to try it ourselves and found it to be excellent, although not distinctly different from numerous other salads.

This particular salad is rapidly gaining popularity among connoisseurs of fine gastronomy. However, the prices at Wine Food The Italians are undeniably extreme, even for a luxury food store. The establishment also offers a soup priced at 269 crowns (Zuppa di Pesce), a relatively small Insalata di Cesare con Pollo for 299 crowns, and meat-filled tortellini with butter sauce and Parmesan cheese for 299 crowns. The most expensive item on their menu is the pea risotto with calamari, priced at 359 crowns.

Wine Food The Italians, a joint-stock company founded in 2005, operates three stores with The Italians Wine Food Holding SE as its sole shareholder. The company specializes in Italian gastronomy and directly imports high-quality Italian food and wine from producers twice a week, offering them to end consumers in their stores.

The objective of Wine Food The Italians is to foster a community of enthusiasts where customers, producers, and employees can revel in the pleasure of high-quality Italian cuisine and wine. However, the steep prices attached to their products may dissuade many Prague residents from indulging. For those who cherish exceptional cuisine and are willing to pay a hefty sum for an extraordinary delicacy, sampling a portion of this beetroot salad is a must. Only time will tell if this novelty becomes a prevailing trend among affluent gourmets.
