Fuel prices have risen in the Czech Republic in a week, petrol is just under 37 crowns
Fuel prices in the Czech Republic have been subject to fluctuations over the past few weeks, with prices decreasing and then increasing again. According to data from CCS, the average price of the best-selling Natural 95 gasoline rose by 77 pennies to 36.99 CZK/l. Drivers will now pay an average of CZK 37.41 for a liter of diesel, which is 12 pennies more than last Wednesday.
Analysts attribute the recent price increase to the rise in prices on the stock exchange in Rotterdam and the gradual growth of margins at gas stations in the Czech Republic. They also point to the weakening demand for diesel due to the fall in natural gas prices and filled gas storage tanks.
Experts expect fuel prices to continue to rise in the coming weeks, with XTB analyst Jiří Tyleček highlighting the further increase in the price of oil and the increase in wholesale fuel prices in Europe. He also expects gasoline and diesel prices to equalize. However, the strong Czech koruna is still protecting drivers from stronger price growth.
Petr Lajsek, an analyst at Purple Trading, also expects further price growth, but believes that fears of a global recession could prevent fuel from becoming significantly more expensive. He also expects diesel prices to rise due to the approaching embargo on the import of Russian fuels into the EU.
Fuel prices vary across the Czech Republic, with the cheapest fuels in the Hradec Králové Region and the most expensive in Prague. Drivers in the capital can expect to pay an average of CZK 38.68 for a liter of gasoline and CZK 39.15/l for diesel.
