John Capenter’s Suburban Screams, which filmed in Prague earlier this year and was remotely directed by the 75-year-old master of horror (whose credits include classics like Halloween and The Thing) from the comfort of his home in California, has received its first-look via a new trailer. The series is slated to premiere on Peacock next month.

It’s a quick turnaround for the series, which quietly filmed entirely on location in Prague and surrounding areas this spring. John Carpenter himself revealed the existence of Suburban Screams, his first work as a director since 2010’s The Ward, at Texas Frightmare Weekend in May.

John Capenter’s Suburban Screams promises six “terrifying true stories” as told by survivors. One of them that can be identified from the trailer is the urban legend of the Bunny Man, who reportedly terrorized Virginia and surrounding areas in the early 1970s. Another appears to be an Amityville-like haunted house.

“John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams is a genre-busting unscripted horror anthology series from the mind of legendary director, writer, and producer, John Carpenter,” reads the official synopsis from Peacock.

“The series explores the dark secrets and unspeakable evil that sometimes lurks beneath the surface of the sun-drenched streets, manicured lawns and friendly neighbors of suburbia. Each episode focuses on one true tale of terror, told by the real people who lived through it.”

“Their firsthand accounts are brought to life through premium cinematic scene-work, news clips, home photos, and archival footage, combining the visual language of horror films with the tools and techniques of documentaries, creating a uniquely frightening experience for viewers.”

Prague locations utilized for John Capenter’s Suburban Screams aren’t immediately identifiable from the trailer, but Nebušice and surrounding areas in Prague 6, which contain blocks of houses constructed in the style of American suburbs, might make for fitting locales.

Milk and Honey Pictures handled the production of John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams in Prague. Their other credits include Apple TV+’s Foundation, which has currently paused production of its third season in the Czech Republic due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, and Netflix’s Haunted, a horror anthology similar to Suburban Screams.

John Capenter’s Suburban Screams will debut on NBC’s streaming platform Peacock in the United States from October 13. Unfortunately, fans in the Czech Republic will likely have to wait a little longer to see it; while SkyShowtime carries Peacock content in the country, the platform’s original programming typically takes longer to show up locally.
