Prague Metro to Close Two Sections for Repairs, Causing Four-Day Disruption
Two sections of the Prague metro will be closed for four days from April 7th to 10th. The affected sections are I.P. Pavlova – Vltavská (line C) and Náměstí Míru – Strašnická (line A). The closure is due to the replacement of old rails and sleepers with new ones. This maintenance work is crucial to ensure the safety and reliability of the metro system.
To help passengers during the closure, the Prague Transport Company has organized two compensatory bus routes. The XC route will operate between I.P. Pavlova – Muzeum – Hlavní nádraží – Florenc – Vltavská – Nádraží Holešovice, while the XA route will operate between Staré Strašnice – Strašnická – Želivského – Flora – Vinohradská vodárna – Náměstí Míru, continuing as line number 36 through I.P. Pavlova towards Vltavská, ending at Výstaviště terminal.
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time for travel. They should also be aware of the compensatory bus routes and check the official Prague Transport Company website for updates.
The Prague metro is an essential mode of transportation for residents and visitors of the Czech capital. It is one of the most efficient ways to travel around the city, with three lines covering 61 kilometers and serving 61 stations. The metro has been in operation since 1974 and has undergone several upgrades and expansions over the years.
The maintenance work on the metro system is a necessary step to ensure that it remains safe and reliable for passengers. The Prague Transport Company is committed to providing high-quality transportation services to the public and keeping the metro system in excellent condition.
