RegioJet Expands Train Connections Between Prague and Bratislava, Plans New Prague to Berlin Route

Prague, Czech Republic – October 23, 2023 – RegioJet, a leading private transportation company, has taken a significant step in enhancing connectivity between European cities, with recent expansions of its train services. Notably, the company has increased the number of train connections between Prague and Bratislava, in addition to unveiling plans to initiate a new Prague to Berlin route in 2024, as confirmed by the company’s spokesperson, Alexandra Janoušek Kostřicová.

The newly introduced train connection between Prague and Bratislava now offers travelers a convenient option, departing from Prague at 5:15 p.m. and returning from Bratislava at 6:21 in the morning. This addition has bolstered RegioJet’s daily connections between Prague and Brno to a remarkable total of ten pairs, facilitating travel to and from various cities, including Bratislava, Vienna, Budapest, and Žilina.

To cater to the growing demand, RegioJet has already commenced ticket sales for this route, with availability extending until March of next year. Furthermore, the expansion of railway connections between Brno and Prague has brought about frequent half-hourly intervals throughout the day, aligning with the Czech Railways’ hourly operations. This synergy ensures efficient and flexible travel options for commuters.

Czech Railways, recognizing the need for enhanced connectivity, will operate 19 long-distance connections daily between Prague and Brno, with many of these routes extending to Budapest or Graz, passing through key cities like Bratislava or Vienna.

In a related development, Czech Railways has announced a ticket price increase of nearly 10 percent. RegioJet, already demonstrating its commitment to improved connectivity, expanded its Prague to Košice connections earlier this year from two to three trains, including a night train. This expansion is set to offer passengers more options for their journeys, enhancing accessibility and convenience.

RegioJet’s ambitious vision doesn’t stop there. The company has submitted an application for access to the Polish railway network, opening up opportunities for train services between Germany and the Polish-Ukrainian border. Přemyšl, a key transfer hub, is poised to play a pivotal role in furthering transportation to Ukraine, with Prague serving as a major starting point for these journeys.

Looking ahead, RegioJet is actively engaged in discussions with railway infrastructure administrators to determine the specifics of the Prague-Berlin line, with plans to provide a service level on par with their current train offerings. The launch of this route is scheduled for 2024, enhancing the transportation options between the two European capitals. Presently, Czech Railways collaborates with Deutsche Bahn on the Prague to Berlin route, but RegioJet’s entry is expected to bring a fresh perspective and increased competition, ultimately benefitting passengers.

After a challenging period marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, RegioJet has demonstrated its resilience and adaptability. The company’s trains and buses, known for their distinctive yellow livery, successfully transported ten million passengers last year, marking a remarkable return to pre-pandemic demand levels witnessed in 2019. RegioJet’s commitment to improving connectivity and service quality is evident in these recent developments, underlining the company’s dedication to facilitating smooth and efficient travel experiences for its passengers.
