The Czech Leo Express will operate on the Bratislava-Komárno line

The Czech carrier Leo Express will provide passenger transport on the bustling Bratislava-Komárno railway line. The Slovak Ministry of Transport has confirmed that the contract is valid until December 2032.

According to the contract, the Czech carrier should start operating in December 2023, but Slovak Transport Minister Andrej Doležal did not rule out that it could be as early as this year.

“Based on the evaluation committee’s recommendation, we will offer Leo Express the possibility to transport passengers between Bratislava and Komárno as early as December 11, 2022,” the minister said.

According to the ministry, Leo Express submitted the most advantageous offer. “In addition to the price, quality criteria such as the number of seats, air-conditioned carriages, toilets, and low-floor capacity also determined the result. I believe passengers will be satisfied with the new carrier and its services,” said Slovak Transport Minister Andrej Doležal.

In addition to Leo Express, six other carriers have submitted bids. In the past, transport on the Bratislava-Komárno line was provided by the Czech carrier RegioJet.
