Traction Line Malfunction Causes Train Disruptions between Prague and Beroun

Train operations between Prague and Beroun were significantly disrupted on Friday morning due to a malfunction in the traction line between stations Dobřichovice and Prague-Radotín. The incident resulted in trains running on a single track instead of two. Czech Railways (ČD) was forced to cancel most of the S7 line passenger trains between Prague’s central station and Řevnice, as well as Radotín and Beroun. Long-distance connections also experienced delays. Traffic restrictions are expected to remain in place until noon.

A representative from Czech Railways explained that the disruption occurred when a supporting cable of the traction line snapped overnight, falling onto one of the tracks in the Radotín to Dobřichovice section. As a result, a passenger train collided with the fallen cable.

Efforts to fully restore the affected section are currently underway. According to ČD, the track restrictions will likely continue until approximately noon, although the exact duration is subject to change.

“The operator will provide continuous updates regarding the expected date of full-service restoration,” ČD stated on its website.

Passengers traveling between Prague and Beroun are advised to check for updates and consider alternative transportation options if necessary. The disruption may cause delays and inconvenience for commuters and travelers relying on train services during the morning hours. Czech Railways is working diligently to resolve the issue and restore normal operations as soon as possible.
