Bank Identity Usage Expands in Czech Republic, Enabling Online Applications for Schools, Subsidies, and More

The use of bank identity in the Czech Republic is experiencing significant growth, offering users access to a wide range of services through electronic banking. Bank identities linked to electronic banking now allow individuals to apply for state subsidies, such as photovoltaics or home insulation, through programs like New Green Savings. Additionally, users can request dividend payouts from specific companies and, in a new development, submit applications for secondary schools and multi-year gymnasiums on behalf of children.

A notable change this year is the elimination of the requirement to submit applications in person for the admission process to schools. Bank Identity, operated by banks, highlighted that starting February 1st, parents can electronically submit applications through an internet application accessible at www.prihlaskynastredni.cz.

The scope of bank identity usage continues to expand, enabling applications to four universities and facilitating registration at the National Library. Future developments include using bank identity to access hospital patient portals and participate in apartment owners’ communities’ voting processes.

Marek Růžička, the company director, emphasized that four million people have already utilized bank identity in practical terms. Of these instances, fifteen million involved accessing state administration systems such as the Citizen Portal, data boxes, or requests for social benefits. Additionally, four million cases were related to corporate services.

Individuals have leveraged their bank identity to enter self-service stores, switch mobile operators and energy suppliers, choose general practitioners, and report insurance claims. Notably, it was also possible to complete online applications for the payout of dividends from companies like ČEZ and Kofola. This innovative use of bank identity marks a significant step towards digitalization and enhanced convenience for Czech citizens.
