Czech and German think tanks discussed the European Union and relations with China
On Wednesday, 17 May, representatives of Czech and German think tanks, universities, political foundations and institutes met at the Czernin Palace to discuss how to strengthen the European Union for the future and approach China.
Diskuze se konala v kontextu strategického dialogu mezi Českem a Německem, který se uskuteční 23. května 2023 v Praze. Cílem setkání bylo přispět k prohloubení a rozšíření česko-německého dialogu o otázkách, které jsou pro obě země aktuálně důležité.
Černínské setkání zahájil vrchní ředitel pro Evropu Jaroslav Kurfürst, který uvedl: „V současné geopoliticky vypjaté době je zcela nezbytné, aby demokratické země zintenzivnily vzájemný dialog a posilovaly jednotu EU a NATO. Česko-německý dialog k tomu přispívá na úrovni vlád, ale také expertů mimo vládní struktury.“
Mezi šedesátkou účastníků byli vedle osobností dlouhodobě se angažujících v česko-německých vztazích zástupci více než třiceti českých a německých institucí, z toho sedmnácti think-tanků či univerzit a čtrnácti politických nadací a institutů.
