Marketa Pekarova Adamova, the head of the Czech lower house (TOP 09), arrived in the United States yesterday, heading a delegation of representatives from the Chamber of Deputies and Czech businessmen. The visit, scheduled to last until 26 May, aims to strengthen Czech-American cooperation in both political and economic spheres.

During her visit, Pekarova Adamova plans to engage in discussions with members of Congress on topics such as Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific. She will also be visiting the states of Maryland and Georgia, accompanied by Czech businessmen. The trip was planned in coordination with the US Ambassador to Prague, Bijan Sabet, back in March.

Martin Churavy, spokesperson for Pekarova Adamova, stated that the delegation’s objective is to enhance Czech-American cooperation, not only politically but also economically. Pekarova Adamova expressed her focus on business meetings with the leadership of the House of Representatives, various committees, and the Friends of the Czech Republic group. She emphasized the influential role of US lawmakers in shaping their country’s foreign policy and expressed her goal of persuading politicians from both the Democratic and Republican parties to continue supporting Ukraine and maintaining their attention on the Central European region.

Accompanying the Czech delegation, Helena Langsadlova, the Minister for Science, Research, and Innovation, as well as representatives from the Industry and Trade Ministry, will travel to Maryland and Georgia. Pekarova Adamova highlighted the growing and dynamic economies of these two American states, which present favorable business opportunities for Czech companies.

The visit to the United States represents an important diplomatic and economic endeavor for the Czech Republic. Strengthening ties with the US will not only foster political cooperation but also create new avenues for trade and investment between the two nations. Through dialogue and engagement with US lawmakers and business leaders, the delegation seeks to enhance mutual understanding and explore possibilities for collaboration in various fields of interest. The visit also underscores the Czech Republic’s commitment to regional stability, particularly in supporting Ukraine during a critical time.
