Czechs considering switch to green electricity, lack government support – survey

The article discusses the results of a survey conducted by STEM/MARK for the Czech Association of Photovoltaic Industry that shows a majority of Czechs are interested in switching to green electricity, but lack of government support and education is preventing them from doing so.

The survey found that 56% of respondents are considering switching to green electricity, but 63% of them state that lack of government support and incentives is a significant obstacle. Additionally, 54% of respondents admitted to lacking knowledge about the options available in the current electricity market, while 51% lacked trust in the market.

The Czech Association of Photovoltaic Industry has called on the government to provide more support and education for households, including tax incentives and rebates to encourage switching to green electricity. These survey results demonstrate the need for more comprehensive government policies to support the adoption of renewable energy.

Despite these challenges, the Czech Republic has made steady progress in using solar energy in recent years, ranking seventh in the European Union regarding newly installed photovoltaic capacity in 2021. However, there is still much work to be done to accelerate the transition to green energy.

The survey’s results highlight the need for greater awareness and education on renewable energy options and the benefits of switching to green electricity. The Czech government must take measures to incentivize and support households to switch to renewable energy sources to achieve its sustainability goals.

In conclusion, the Czech Republic has made progress in using solar energy, but much work is needed to accelerate the transition to green energy. The survey highlights the importance of education and government support to encourage households to switch to renewable energy sources, which is crucial for the country to meet its sustainability targets.
