Energy lockdown

Just as Petr Fiala had promised, his style is much different from Andrej Babiš’s. This applies particularly to covid and energy. Babiš was under immense pressure from the covid experts who pushed him to take drastic measures, many of which ended up being unnecessarily strict and left irreparable scars. Fiala is downplaying the covid risk, which increases the likelihood that the measures will be all that much stricter later. He’s also ignoring many of the energy experts and is insisting that there will be enough natural gas this winter, but without showing any of the covid-like tables that kept everyone informed, for better or for worse, during the health crisis. While he was assuring everyone in a video yesterday that everything will be okay, his own energy envoy, Václav Bartuška, was telling LN that if there’s a hard winter, unimaginable measures will likely be needed. Babiš told us in advance what a covid lockdown would mean; Fiala is being evasive about the coming energy lockdown.
