Fuel Prices in Czech Republic Show Fluctuations: Natural 95 Up by 15 Haléřů, Diesel Sees a 10 Haléřů Decrease
In the past week, the Czech Republic has experienced varying fuel prices, revealing a mixed trend in the cost of petrol and diesel. According to data from the CCS company, which monitors fuel prices, the most popular gasoline variant, Natural 95, witnessed a notable increase of 15 haléřů, reaching an average price of 36.01 Kč per litre. Conversely, diesel prices saw a decrease of ten haléřů, averaging at 36.08 Kč per litre.
While fuel prices in the country have consistently decreased since October of the previous year, this decline encountered a pause at the beginning of the current year. Analysts are not anticipating significant shifts in fuel prices in the upcoming days. Jiří Tyleček, an analyst from XTB, predicts a slight continued decrease in diesel prices but believes it’s unlikely to drop below the 36 koruna level soon.
Gasoline prices, however, lack a clear trend, and minor changes are expected in the short term. Tyleček attributes the current diesel price dynamics to the relatively mild winter, resulting in lower demand for heating oil.
Petr Lajsek, an analyst from Purple Trading, concurs with the expectation of minimal price movements currently. However, he suggests the possibility of a substantial decrease in fuel prices by the end of the month, influenced by events in the oil market. Lajsek points to the surprising increase in OPEC’s production in December, leading to current disagreements on production restrictions. This OPEC disagreement is creating market reassurance, causing a decline in oil prices towards the end of the week.
Geographically, South Bohemia offers the most economical fuel options, with an average litre of gasoline priced at 35.31 Kč and diesel at 35.42 Kč. Conversely, Prague features the highest fuel costs, with an average litre of gasoline at 38.15 Kč and diesel at 38.13 Kč.
In a year-over-year comparison, CCS data indicates that gasoline in the Czech Republic is now 32 haléřů per litre cheaper than the previous year, while diesel prices have increased by 1.41 Kč per litre compared to the same period last year.
