“I don’t want my face on every corner,” says Pavel about the stamps

President-elect Petr Pavel has indicated that he is not in favor of having his face on stamps, but has not ruled out the possibility of a collector’s series if there is a public demand. The decision will be made in consultation with the Czech Post. The issue of stamps featuring the President is a tradition, not a legal requirement.

Czech Post spokesman Matyáš Vitík stated that the design of the stamp would be subject to the President’s preference if he wants one to be issued. Representatives of the Czech Post are expected to approach President-elect Pavel’s team soon to determine whether a stamp will be produced.

The last President to have a stamp issued was Miloš Zeman, but not all Presidents have had stamps made during their time in office.
