Meteorologists warn of frost in eastern and northeastern regions of the Czech Republic

Meteorologists in the Czech Republic have issued a warning about low temperatures that could damage vegetation, particularly in areas below 600 meters above sea level. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI) warns that low temperatures, particularly in areas below 600 meters above sea level, could damage heat-loving crops, potatoes, and vegetables. The warning will be effective from Thursday at 10 pm until Friday morning.

The warning applies to parts of the Hradec Králové and Pardubice regions and the Moravian-Silesian, Olomouc, and Zlín regions. Meteorologists recommend covering low-growing plants with light non-woven textiles and using protective preparations against freezing, wetting, and smoking for trees.

This warning follows several days of warnings about ground frosts, and temperatures have indeed dropped below freezing in many areas in recent mornings. Farmers and gardeners must take extra precautions to protect their crops and vegetation from damage.

The effects of climate change are causing weather patterns to become more unpredictable, which means it is vital to take weather warnings seriously and take appropriate precautions to protect crops and other vulnerable plants. The CHMI regularly issues warnings and forecasts, and individuals and businesses need to keep themselves informed and prepared for potential weather-related risks.

The agricultural sector in the Czech Republic is a significant contributor to the economy. According to the Czech Statistical Office, agriculture accounts for around 2% of the country’s GDP. Crop damage due to frost could have a significant impact on farmers and the wider economy. Therefore, farmers and gardeners must take heed of the warnings and take appropriate steps to protect their crops and other vegetation from damage.
