Prague Airport Bounces Back with 283 Million CZK Profit After Two Years of Losses

Prague Airport, the largest airport in the Czech Republic, reported a profit of 283 million CZK in 2021, marking a significant rebound after two years of losses. The airport’s economic result is nearly 2 billion CZK better compared to the previous year, with 10.7 million passengers handled in 2020, more than double the number in 2019, when only 4.4 million passengers were served.

The improved results reflect a gradual recovery in the aviation industry, which was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ministry of Finance hailed the airport’s financial recovery, with Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura (ODS) expressing confidence that the airport will continue to increase its occupancy and profits and push forward with its planned investments.

Last year, 58 airlines operated flights from Prague Airport to 147 destinations worldwide, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. The airport has continued to prioritize safety measures and adapt to changing travel restrictions to ensure the health and well-being of passengers and staff.

The airport’s strong performance is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of the aviation industry, which has faced unprecedented challenges due to the pandemic. The rebound in air travel demand has been driven by a combination of increased vaccination rates, improved health and safety protocols, and pent-up demand for travel.

Going forward, Prague Airport remains focused on ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers, while also investing in new technologies and facilities to enhance the travel experience. The airport’s management is confident that the industry will continue to recover and grow, and they remain committed to providing excellent services and a world-class airport experience for all travelers.
