Prague Resumes Ferry Services After Temporary Suspension Due to High Water Levels
The resumption of ferry services in Prague following a temporary halt due to high water levels in the Vltava River has brought relief to commuters, tourists, and locals. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute had issued a warning regarding the water levels, prompting the flood commission of Prague to temporarily halt ferry services and flood gates on Čertovka.
However, with the expiration of the warning, ferry services and flood gates have resumed, much to the delight of the people. The officials have reported a decrease in water levels in the Vltava, Berounka, and Sazava rivers, which are crucial for Prague’s flood situation, despite recent rains. The ČHMÚ had issued the warning due to heavy rains and manipulations of water levels in the Vltava cascade. The first-degree flood activity was declared in Prague on April 16, and the walkways along the river were opened on April 20.
The decision to resume the ferry services and reopen flood gates is critical to ensuring the area’s safety during the flood season. The flood commission plays a crucial role in monitoring water levels and ensuring the safety of the residents and visitors of the city. This decision will relieve people who rely on transportation services, and it is hoped that the water levels in the rivers will decrease to avoid any future warnings.
In conclusion, the resumption of ferry services and reopening of flood gates in Prague following the decrease in water levels is a welcome development. The safety of the residents and visitors of the city is paramount, and the flood commission’s decision to resume the services is a testament to their commitment to ensuring safety during the flood season. It is hoped that the water levels in the rivers will continue to decrease, and the ferry services will continue to operate without any interruptions.
